MY PRIORITIES

Protecting Our Communities

City Council District 8 is located in the heart of Chattanooga. It is comprised of multiple neighborhoods and communities that all have different needs. Protecting our communities start with addressing their needs on the City Council.

Creating Safer Streets

Every family in Chattanooga should have be able to live in a good, clean, and safe neighborhood. But in District 8, this aspect is largely overlooked. The first place where we have to make some sizable improvements is to address the issue of Street Lights in our communities. From there we need to make sure that we have sidewalks, clean roads, and that the city properly maintains vacant lots.

Building up Stronger Communities

To build stronger communities we need to know and understand what the community needs. As a councilperson and previous neighborhood association president, I will work with community leaders and members to provide plans and improvements needed.

Fostering Economic Growth and Development

As a district and a city we are experiencing growth at a rapid pace in several areas. The area of income is where we are not growing anywhere near the pace of growth in other areas. However, I must say we are making progress. It starts with promoting and supporting small businesses as well as minority-owned businesses.

Protecting Our Families

Creating better and safer communities starts with listening to the families and community members. I want to work with them to look at and find solutions for the following issues together:

Addressing and Ending Food Deserts

The first priority of any council person should be to make sure that the citizens of their district and their city have all of the basic needs to live. Food is vital to life, and as a council person, I will work with the Mayor and other important stakeholders to make sure that all citizens have access to fresh food and vegetables.

Creating Affordable Housing

Affordable and Accessible housing is critical and important to any community. It starts with addressing the rising housing prices in the City. From there we have to support urban growth and development which will lead to a decrease in rental prices.

Working With Others

Serving as the City Councilwoman for District 8 and the Neighborhood Association President for Orchard Knob has allowed me to build strong connections with fellow city council-members, mayoral staff, and other officials and stakeholders to build a better and safer District 8. Some of my recent work included the city budget, which includes some of the most help and resources to the citizens of District 8.

Working with others also means connecting members with the valuable resources and people that they need. As a Councilwoman, it has been my mission to make sure that residents always have the access and connections that they need.
